Proverbs 17:6 “Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.”
I hope you enjoyed a great Father’s Day! I’d consider myself derelict if I failed to share a word with you regarding fathers. Every man should celebrate the gift of fatherhood, regardless of whether he’s a father or whether he had a father present in his life. Fatherhood is under assault. In 2021, the number of female single-parented homes in the U.S. was a staggering 63%! A truth is conveyed in passage the above that we must continue to embrace…“the glory of children are their fathers.” Fathers provide a sense of security and stability, the foundation of strong character development in children. It’s been proven that a leading cause of promiscuity among young women is the lack of relationship with their fathers! And for young men, we need only look at the jails to see the devastating effects of a lack of fathers! Fathers shape our identity and failure to receive their affirmation leads to a host of personal and societal ills.
Fathers, never pass up the opportunity to affirm your sons and daughters. And for those of you who are not fathers, be a father to a younger man and give him the gift of your affirmation.
Sons, never pass up the opportunity to honor your father regardless of the relationship you had or didn’t have. As long as he’s breathing, it’s never too late to start a relationship. And if your father wasn’t in your life, but another man was, honor that man for the gift of his affirmation. When we all celebrate fatherhood in this way, we do our part in healing ourselves, our families, and our land. ”
