Joseph C. Black, Jr. is the pastor and founder of Spirit & Truth Apostolic Church. He is a former corporate executive who served as Vice President of Procurement & Real Estate for a Fortune 50 company. Pastor Black led an organization impacting over $4.0 billion in company expense. In 2015, he began preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The following year, Pastor Black retired from corporate life to pursue his passion for full-time ministry. In June of 2018, the Lord called him to the pastorate. Later that year, he with the support of his wife and adult children launched Spirit & Truth Apostolic in November.

 

Additionally, Pastor Black has a passion for motivational teaching, specifically in the area of effective leadership. He has spoken at several venues including: the State of Connecticut’s Department of Transportation, Michigan State University, Rutgers University, and Iron Sharpens Iron, a national Christian men’s conference ministry.

 

Furthermore, Pastor Black desires to assist young adults in their pursuit of Jesus Christ.  He aims to: 1) help them develop a closer walk with Christ; 2) help them achieve a balanced life and 3) strengthen their Christian morals.  Therefore, in February 2020, Pastor Black established Men of V.A.L.O.R. (Virtuous Authentic Leaders of Righteousness), a series of leadership lessons opened to men of all ages.

 

Pastor Black holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and an Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Connecticut. He is happily married to First Lady Leslie Black, his lovely wife of 36 years.  They have two wonderful adult children Michael and Danielle and a lovely daughter-in-love, Kedine and one sweet granddaughter, McKenzie.
