Holiness is Not a “Dirty” Word

Imagine going to your favorite restaurant.  You are seated and order an appetizer.  The waitress brings over your appetizer plate and napkin wrapped utensils.  As you unravel the utensils you notice your fork has red and brown dried food particles on it.  Would you still use it?  Of course not!

You want to use something clean. Something that has been sanctified.  If we are so particular regarding the things we use, what about God?  He doesn’t want to use unclean vessels either.

God calls us to a LIFE of holiness because He is holy! To be holy simply means to be clean, pure or consecrated for His use.  God expects and commands us to be holy (1 Peter 1:16). If we are His children, then shouldn’t we be like Him, our Father?  Since our nature is sinful, we cannot be holy on our own…He helps us through His Spirit.

God wants there to be a distinction between the people who belong to Him and those who don’t.  He wants the world to know you belong to Him.  The world won’t know that, if you look and behave unholy.

You may hear Apostolic or Pentecostal churches referred to as “Holiness churches,” because of our adherence to a morally clean, holy lifestyle.
